CUPE 8443 members ratify agreement with Saskatoon Public Schools

CUPE 8443 members have ratified the tentative agreement with Saskatoon Public Schools, following a strong strike mandate delivered by members in May.

“The bargaining committee remained focused on the priorities identified by members and committed to securing meaningful improvements to the collective agreement while protecting our rights,” said Dene Nicholson, CUPE 8443 president and bargaining committee member. “Our members’ encouragement and engagement strengthened our efforts at the bargaining table.”

Highlights of the three-year agreement include:

  • 8.5% wage increase over three years
  • Increase to casual/substitute wages 
  • Improved health and safety language, including new provisions to address violence in the workplace    

“The outcome reflects the bargaining committee’s commitment and the strength of the membership,” said Kent Peterson, CUPE Saskatchewan president. “This agreement delivers real improvements for members.”
