Saint-Georges-de-Beauce blue-collar workers sign new collective agreement

Blue-collar workers employed by the city of Saint-Georges-de-Beauce signed a new collective agreement yesterday. CUPE 5197 represents approximately 30 workers at the municipality.

The new contract covers five years, from 2026 to 2030, and was ratified by union members at a union meeting held October 1, 2026.

Among the contract improvements achieved during bargaining were wage increases of 2.5% for 2026, and a catch-up hourly increase of $2.50. For 2027, the catch-up increase is $0.50 per hour, combined with a wage increase of 3%. The members will receive wage increases of 2.75% in 2028, and 2.50% per year in 2029 and 2030. In addition, workers employed at the time of signing will receive a signing bonus of $3,000. Allowances and premiums will also be increased.

“CUPE 5197 members were pleased with the outcome of this round of bargaining, which was carried out in an atmosphere of mutual respect. We undertook a constructive dialogue with the goal of finding solutions that would be advantageous for both parties, which allowed us to reach an agreement in a very reasonable amount of time. Our members were anxious to receive a significant and well-deserved salary adjustment,” said David Nadeau, president of CUPE 5197.
